Mama Pat, The Side Porch, and Bartlett Peeps

We finally made it to our old stomping grounds...we took a side trip through Olive Branch, MS to see where we lived in seminary housing. My that whole area has changed in ten years...so many more shops and places to eat. Dodges Fried Chicken was still there, though!

Off to Bartlett, TN.... We were thrilled to reunite with Mama Pat Mount in Bartlett. She graciously offered a while back for us to stay the night with her, and of course we couldn't turn her down. We had a fabulous time catching up and then took her to dinner at one of our favorite places to eat in Memphis...The Side Porch. The steak and chicken were as delicious as we remembered...and the toasted garlic bread chips were still so addicting!

After a great meal, we went back to Mama Pat's love-filled home and waited for our special guests. She and Alison invited friends from the days of David serving on staff as a student minister at Bartlett Baptist Church. It was such a delightful time to reconnect with youth workers, as well as some of our students...that are now grown with families of their own. Everyone asked about our boys (they are with my parents in CO), and we shared many stories and laughs about the days gone by. It was a special time!

Today we are journeying to Kansas City, KS via St. Louis, MO.
